Azkals Members Do a Cameo on "Tween Academy: Class of 2012"

Members of the country's football team, Philippine Azkals, agreed to do a cameo in the upcoming youth-oriented movie by GMA Films - Tween Academy: Class of 2012.

Team Captain Aly Borromeo, Chieffy Caligdong, and Ian Araneta have already shot their scene where they taught football to one of the leads of the movie.

Bea Binene, who was in the scene with the athletes, said she was so happy when she saw the Azkals. “Ang saya-saya ko nang makita ko sila," she told Chika Minute last Thursday. "Kasi siyempre parang, oh, Azkals 'di ba? They compete sa ibang bansa nasa national team sila."

Aly Borromeo said they agreed to do a cameo in the movie to promote their sport further and to inspire the youth.

But weren't they nervous at all in front of the camera? “Wala naman its more natural talaga parang nagtuturo lang kami sa bata," the Team Captain said.

Directed by Mark Reyes from the script written by Kit Villanueva-Langit, the movie is scheduled for release on August 24, 2011.

Tween Academy Class of 2012 stars Barbie Forteza, Joshua Dionisio, Elmo Magalona, Jake Vargas, Bea Binene, Joyce Ching, Kris Dangculos, Lexi Fernandez, Derrick Monasterio, Louise delos Reyes, Alden Richards, Yassi Pressman and FHM's sexiest woman for 2011, Sam Pinto.

Key players of the Philippine AzkalsAly Borromeo and Stephan Schrock – weren't able to play during the first leg due to the yellow cards they got during their last game against Sri Lanka. Now that they're back in the game (much more a home game), fans are expecting that tables will be turned.

Kuwait Wins Against Azkals With 3-0 Score

Kuwait Al-Azraq won against the Philippine Azkals with a score of 3-0 in leg 1 of their match held July 23, 2011 in Mohammad Al Hamad Stadium, Qadsia, Kuwait for the second round of 2014 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

The Kuwait team was really strong and had a good game plan but the Azkals gave their best in the game. It could have turned out differently if Aly Borromeo and Stephan Schrock were able to play. They missed this match for accumulating two yellow cards during the round 1 with Sri Lanka.

The second leg of round two will be held here in Manila on July 28 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium. Let's all give the Azkals our support and hope that they get at least 4 in their home game.
