"Survivor Philippines 4" - Teaser

GMA-7 has aired the first teaser for Survivor Philippines 4 and the soundtrack is nostalgic. Can't wait for the season 4. But somehow I really wish it would be Paolo Bediones once again. Not that I don't like Richard Gutierrez, but Paolo did it really well, at par with the hosts of other Survivor franchise.

Anyway, you can watch the very first Survivor Philippines 4 teaser below.

GMA-7 Releases New "Survivor Philippines 4" Banner

After the news that Richard Gutierrez will still be the host of Survivor Philippines' 4th season, GMA-7 followed it up by posting this new banner for the reality show.

Survivor Philippines

Bagong Laro. Bagong Bangis. Notice the bilao-like bottom part of the oval logo. Is this an indication that the show will be shot in the country?

Richard Gutierrez Hosts "Survivor Philippines" Season 4 After "Captain Barbell" Gets Axed

The Richard Gutierrez-starrer Captain Barbell is on its final week. After continuously receiving poor ratings, GMA-7 decided to axe the show. This is Gutierrez's second time to portray Captain Barbell on television, the first (and better received) one was in 2006.

Richard Gutierrez

But despite the poorly-received TV series, the Kapuso network is still investing on the actor by giving him the hosting job in Survivor Philippines' 4th season. This is also Gutierrez's second time to host the reality show. He took the job left by Paolo Bediones in season 3 when Bediones left GMA-7 for TV5.

Survivor Philippines Season 4 is said to start hunting for new castaways soon after Captain Barbell ends.

JC Tiuseco, The First Sole Survivor!

After a long wait, Survivor Philippines' First Sole Survivor is finally revealed. Live at the Studio 7 of the GMA Network Center, JC Tiuseco was announced as the first ever Sole Survivor. He won against Rob Sy who only got 2 votes from the jury. JC got 6 votes and another one from the text poll which he won with 93% of votes. It has long been rumored that JC won the title, even before the merging of tribes (Chalam). The spoilers, after all, are true.

Aside from the car that he won in the second to the last Immunity Challenge, JC goes home with 3 million pesos, and of course, the possibility of becoming a GMA 7 talent.

Survivor Philippines Ep 45: Goodbye Vern

Veronica "Vern" Domingo got the solid five votes from the former members of the Naak tribe, ending her fight in the quest for the first Sole Survivor. On the other hand, Rob, with the additional one vote from the Black Pearl that Kiko gave him, got all the votes of the three remaining former Jarakays.

Earlier in the episode, Charisse won the Immunity Challenge where they would search for blocks of their assigned color and arrange them in the way Paolo showed them before the challenge started. Veronica was actually the first to gather all seven blocks but she had trouble arranging them in the correct way. Charisse, who seems to excel in mind-boggling stuff, was the first one to get it right, earning her the Immunity Necklace.

Kiko Rustia on Chika Minute

Kiko, the 10th castaway to be voted-off in the search for the first Sole Survivor, guested live on 24 Oras's Chika Minute.

Kiko was honest enough to say that he was guilty on doubting Rob as one of those who betrayed him. But it's not the only reason why he gave the Black Pearl to Rob. According to Kiko, it's his way of telling Rob to put his act together and that no one finds him amusing anymore.

He felt betrayed on what Kaye and Cris did, and said their reasons for voting him off should better be good enough without sugar coating their words. And on Charisse? He said he understands Charisse's vote for he knows Charisse's loyalty belongs to Jarakay.

Kiko said he's willing to accept showbiz opportunities that may come his way. And on the question of what he wants to do, he said he wouldn't mind doing hosting jobs with Pia Guanio, the showbiz personality he admires most.

Survivor Philippines Ep 41: Goodbye Kiko

Kiko got voted off in the search for the first Sole Survivor in Survivor Philippines. He got five out of nine votes while Marlon got the other four.

Meanwhile, the evicted castaway was given the chance to give the Black Pearl to anyone. The Black Pearl would mean an additional vote for the one holding it in the next Tribal Council. Kiko gave the Black Pearl to Rob.

Back in the camp Rob was furious for the Black Pearl. He said he gave all his trust to Kiko, even did anything Kiko said, and he wasn't expecting that Kiko would do that to him.

Kaye was all tears after the council. Zita was confused. Everyone was so emotional aside from Marlon who was so happy.

The Naak alliance was no more. It started when JC got the bid for the auctioned scroll entitling him to choose three other castaways to go with him on immersion. He chose Kiko, Rob and Zita. Cris was deeply hurt because JC chose Zita over him. He strongly believed in their "For the Boys" alliance in Naak but it disappointed him when JC chose Zita, which left him (Cris) behind when he was considered one of the Naak boys.

With the sudden change of Cris and Kaye's hearts and with Kiko's leaving, JC, Rob and Zita are in danger.

Survivor Philippines Ep 35: Jace Gets the Boot

Tribal Council day and Mommy Zita has the Immunity Necklace. Charisse is still confused on who to vote out and Kiko has qualms about Rob's loyalty. Jace is a hundred percent sure of JC's cooperation while Marlon isn't convinced about it.

The remaining 10 castaways will be part of the jury during the final stage of the competition. They have power on who will be the first ever Sole Survivor.

Zita compared her winning the immunity to Manny Pacquiao's victory. The way she was carried by her fellow castaways reminded her of how Pacquiao was carried in the same manner by his supporters.

About who she'd give the Immunity Necklace to if she had the chance to do so, she said she'd just keep it for herself because she thinks she's the one in danger.

In the end, the loyalty of the former Naak tribe to their team won over the lesser (former) Jarakay's. Kiko got 4 votes (the same number as of the remaining Jarakays) while Jace got 6 (the same number as of the remaining Naaks).

So Marlon's judgment over JC's loyalty is correct. And it is now quite clear to the remaining 3 Jarakays that JC somehow betrayed them. Will the pattern continue? Will the next castaway to leave be yet another Jarakay?

Survivor Philippines Ep 34: Alila

The former Naak members noticed how hard Marlon works, and how lazy Jace has become. They even think Jarakay could not have survived if not for Marlon. According to Kiko, though, Marlon spoiled the Jarakay and that's the reason why they're making an "alila" out of him now.

Kiko, at one point noticing how Jace was so not doing anything, told Marlon to fetch water and to call Jace to help him out. But Kiko's good intention came to waste because Marlon seemed to misinterpret what he had done (that, or he was playing double). While in the water well, Marlon told Jace that they now have an instant boss (Kiko), and told Jace about how Kiko instructed him to fetch water and to call Jace to help him out.

Survivor Philippines Ep 33: Immunity Necklace

JC reading the Chalam mail
Thinking that he has won JC in his alliance, Jace planned ahead instructing Marlon as who to vote off in this order: Kiko, Rob, Cris and Zita. Little did he know that JC's loyalty still belongs to Naak.

Since the castaways now all belong to one tribe (Chalam), they will not be fighting for the Immunity Idol anymore. It was replaced by the Immunity Necklace.

As the Immunity Challenge went, only the first five castaways to get into the cage (by digging their way in with their bare hands which are chained together) will move on to the next round. The five who moved on were (in order) Jace, JC, Zita, Charisse and Veronica.

They five had to dig in again to go to the next cage. Once there, they would have to improvise (from the things scattered around) something they could get the key with in the other end of the next cage. The key would then be used to unchain their arms. Mommy Zita was able to get her key first. After which she had to go through another cage filled with what looked like branches of trees designed to make anyone's passage a very hard one.

Mommy Zita was so determined to win the challenge. And it was a heart-pounding moment as she went on from one level of the challenge to the next. As Paolo Bediones said, Mommy Zita was showing everyone that age doesn't really matter.

But then the episode tonight is really about an old mother who is so determined and will do everything to give her children a better life.

Survivor Philippines Ep 31: Chalam

After Nikki's departure as the eighth eliminated castaway, the remaining ten unite as one tribe. Expecting to do another challenge (but most of them have the merger in mind), the Naak and Jarakay tribes went to meet Paolo Bediones. Most of them were ecstatic as the host instructed them to drop their buffs because they were Naak and Jarakay no more. Their buffs were replaced by new purple ones as they carry the name of their new tribe - Chalam.

Chalam is the Thai term for shark, and the waters of Koh Tarutao is believed to be inhabited by them.

The merger was celebrated by a feast of Filipino foods - kare-kare, mechado, hipon, lechon kawali, etc. and the remaining ten castaways were more than happy to devour them. All of them, though, was attacked by impatso after eating more than enough their stomach could hold.

Survivor Philippines Ep 27: Scary Stories

The Jarakay tribe members were so envious while watching the Naak tribe take their bath. The Naak tribe were actually so lucky to have the luxury of shampoo, bath soap, toothbrush, and even deodorant. Spending days on the island is tough enough, and the lack of these things make it even harder.

Marlon and Jace talk about their alliance once more. Jace was a hundred percent sure about his alliance on JC, ifever the merge put them together in a single tribe. Marlon, on the other hand, tries to get the trust of every person in their tribe so as to assure his position in the competition

It rains come night time and Jace narrates spooky stories which frightened Veronica. Even Marlon is scared. He says he can stand up against a number of bad guys but isn't ready to face even just a single ghost.

Nanay Zita becomes more of a mother to the Naak tribe. Missing her children more as the day passes by, she turns her attention to the younger members of the tribe to ease her loneliness. Having experienced being a maid before, she just considers her stay in the island like being a maid in a house far away from her family, afterwhich she gets a day-off and gets to see her children after a month's work.

Survivor Philippines Ep 26: Bath Time!

The Naak tribe yet again won in the Reward Challenge. They were the first to gather 5 pails of mud (Jarakay only had 3 by the time Naak reached their 5th pail).

Procedure was three members from both tribes would be the "mud gatherer." They would take turns in rolling in the mud, walk back to their respective bases and put the mud from their head and body to the waiting pails. First to gather five pails of mud wins the reward consisting of soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, etc. The catch was, they could use the items only in the makeshift bathroom nearby. Though they couldn't take the reward back to their camp, it was good enough treat to be able to bathe the way they're used to, shampoo and brush their teeth.

Survivor Philippines Ep 25: Goodbye John

John Anthony Lopez was the seventh castaway to leave Koh Tarutao. His tribemates voted him off due to his health condition which proved to hinder his performance during the last Immunity Challenge which the tribe lost in.

Nikki, on the other hand, volunteered to be voted off even before the Immunity Challenge started. It's perhaps because she felt her being useless in the tribe, or she somehow knew she was the one her tribemates were going to vote off. The "Muscle Men" alliance really had Nikki next in line, but decided on John due to his condition. It can be noted that John was even sent to the hospital when his potassium count went down.

Survivor Philippines Ep 24: Ghost!

Marlon somewhat blames Jace for not winning the Immunity Challenge but Jace, being the frontman in the said challenge, says that he's in a very difficult position unlike Marlon who was in the middle of the line during that time.

It rained almost the whole night at the Naak camp and Kiko and JC decided not to sleep and just take care of the fire instead. While raining, Kaye claims that she saw an image of a man in the dark. She says the image, which she at first thought was just a shadow, lasted for five long seconds.

JC makes a list of all the foods he has been craving for since they arrived at the island. He says he wants to keep a list of all those foods so he can eat them all when he goes back to Manila.

The castaways of both tribes are having problems with the insects of the island. Charisse even says that she wants to set the island on fire to get rid of the insects.

The Jarakay tribe is set to go to the tribal council tomorrow. Will it be Nikki? Or Marlon?

Survivor Philippines Ep 21: And They Love Marlon

After Vevherly's departure, the Naak tribe went with the Jarakay tribe to "sleep over" in the latter's camp site as was instructed by the host Paolo Bediones. It seemed that the members of the Jarakay weren't sociable aside from Marlon and Charisse. Marlon entertained the Naak castaways so well he even slept with them.

Survivor Philippines Ep 20: Vevherly Gets the Boot

Vevherly knew her tribemates would vote her out even before they were inside the tribal council. She knew because she was aware of the alliance that was formed in the early stages of their tribe.

The Jarakay tribe members were allowed inside the tribal council to witness Naak's elimination process. Marlon was ever grinning as if mockeries were running in his mind.

Vevherly wasn't wrong when the votes were counted. All the rest of Naak voted her off.

Nanay Zita is the only one left without an alliance in Naak. Would they really go with the alliance and vote her off next time they lose the Immunity Challenge?

Survivor Philippines Ep 19: Nina Leaves

Due to the condition of her misaligned toe, Nina has to leave the competition.

Before the Immunity Challenge, host Paolo Bediones called back the two castaways who were brought to the hospital after the Reward (Spooling) Challenge. JC, who had a foot infection, went back to his tribe (Naak). Nina, on the other hand, also went back to her Jarakay tribe, foot in a cast, to tell the news that she cannot continue her journey due to her toe. "As much as I want to stay, yung toe ko ayaw eh," she told Jarakay, and Naak as well.

Be that as it may, the incident just spared Nina the trouble of spending senseless days in the tribe. She's next in the list of the "Muscle Men" after all. In her own words: "At least hindi ako na-vote out."

Immunity Challenge was again won by the Jarakay tribe. Lacking strategy from the tribe representatives, Marlon did his best to annoy Naak's Rob, and Marlon succeeded as Rob seemed to lose his presence of mind.

JC as the First Sole Survivor?

Rumor is: the hardcourt heartthrob from San Beda John Carlo "JC" Tiuseco is the first Pinoy Sole Survivor. Showbiz Juice states that their sources allegedly overheard some Survivor Philippines staff talking about it in a coffee shop.

Host Paolo Bediones, though, says that it is quiteimpossible to know who the winner is as of now because only the program manager knows it. Last September, the Survivor Philippines contestants did cast their final votes before they left Koh Tarutao but the result will be revealed on the last day of Survivor Philippines which will be aired live over GMA.

Quite obvious that there are those who are envious of the show's success and would like to ruin it. The thing is, they're only making the show more popular.
