"MasterChef Pinoy Edition" Audition Schedule

After the launch of Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition, MasterChef itself is hitting the Philippine shores!

MasterChef Pinoy Edition is an upcoming reality show by ABS-CBN. And in line with that, the Kapamilya network has released audition schedules for the aspiring Pinoy chefs.

The audition is open to all 18-50 years of age, with no culinary degree or diploma, no cooking experience in a restaurant (fine dining or casual dining), and no teaching experience in a cooking class or demo.

And audition is scheduled at the Marquee Mall in Pampanga on August 25 at 8 AM. Interested applicants must bring their specialty dish.

Other audition scheds will soon be announced. Reports say ABS-CBN will also hold auditions in Batangas, Baguio, Legaspi, Iloilo, Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, and Manila.

Melanie Moore is "So You Think You Can Dance" Season 8 Winner

19-year-old Melanie Moore won the 8th season of So You Think You Can Dance, beating Sasha Mallory and the other two Filipino-American finalists Marko Germar and Tadd Gadduang. The Pinoys finished 3rd and 4th respectively during the finals that was held Thursday night in Los Angeles.

Melanie got 47% of votes followed by Sasha who got 32%.

Despite the loss, though, Filipinos once again proved that we can compete internationally. It's just sad that the judges' statements really have a big impact on the people's decision on who to vote for. In this case, Nigel Lythgoe rooted for a girl winner. He apologized to the two male contestants for pushing them "under the bus" the night before but, of course, the votes had already been cast when he made the apology.

Judy Ann Santos Hosts "Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition"

Judy Ann Santos will host the Philippine franchise of Junior Master Chef which will be aired over ABS-CBN. She will be joined by renowned chefs Fernando 'Ferns' Aracama, Rolando 'Lau' Laudico, and JP 'Jayps' Anglo as judges.

This is Judy Ann's first hosting job. But knowing how good a host her husband Ryan Agoncillo is, I'm sure she's always given pointers and guidance on how to do it expertly.

The show will have a Primer dubbed as "Appetizer: The Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition Primer" on August 20, a Saturday. Regular run will start on August 27. The pilot episode will introduce all the 60 Junior MasterChef hopefuls.

"Survivor Philippines 4" - Teaser

GMA-7 has aired the first teaser for Survivor Philippines 4 and the soundtrack is nostalgic. Can't wait for the season 4. But somehow I really wish it would be Paolo Bediones once again. Not that I don't like Richard Gutierrez, but Paolo did it really well, at par with the hosts of other Survivor franchise.

GMA-7 Releases New "Survivor Philippines 4" Banner

After the news that Richard Gutierrez will still be the host of Survivor Philippines' 4th season, GMA-7 followed it up by posting this new banner for the reality show.

Bagong Laro. Bagong Bangis. Notice the bilao-like bottom part of the oval logo. Is this an indication that the show will be shot in the country?

PBB Season 4 Japan Audition

Since Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) has already searched the whole Philippines for possible housemates, auditions are now branched out of the country to scout for Pinoys abroad worthy to live inside the PBB house.

After the July 30 Robinsons Nova Market audition which is the last PBB Season 4 audition in the country, they are now going to Japan to give a chance to our kababayans there who would like to audition.

PBB Season 4 Japan auditions will be held on August 21, 2011 at the Tokyo Sumida-Ku, Kyojima, 1-38-11 Hikifune Bunka Center from 10 AM to 5 PM.

If you have relatives living in Japan who you think would like to audition, this is the best time to contact them and tell them of this great news.

Richard Gutierrez Hosts "Survivor Philippines" Season 4 After "Captain Barbell" Gets Axed

The Richard Gutierrez-starrer Captain Barbell is on its final week. After continuously receiving poor ratings, GMA-7 decided to axe the show. This is Gutierrez's second time to portray Captain Barbell on television, the first (and better received) one was in 2006.

But despite the poorly-received TV series, the Kapuso network is still investing on the actor by giving him the hosting job in Survivor Philippines' 4th season. This is also Gutierrez's second time to host the reality show. He took the job left by Paolo Bediones in season 3 when Bediones left GMA-7 for TV5.

Survivor Philippines Season 4 is said to start hunting for new castaways soon after Captain Barbell ends.

PBB Season 4 Audition on July 30 at Robinsons Fairview

Pinoy Big Brother Season 4 is holding an audition at Robinsons Nova Market in Fairview on July 30, from 8 AM to 3 PM. The audition is open to all Filipinos, 18-35 years old.

Season Two of Sharon Cuneta's "Star Power" is a Male Version

After the success of Star Power: The Search for the Next Female Pop Superstar, ABS-CBN will soon bring the male version of the singing reality competition titled Star Power: The Search for the Next Male Singing Heartthrob.

The show will again be hosted by the Megastar Sharon Cuneta with Christian Bautista and Erik Santos as her co-hosts. Although, the exact play date of the show is not yet revealed, Star Power Season 2 will surely be shown within the year. It's also kinda logical to think that this will be shown after the finale of Biggest Loser, a show that is currently being hosted by the megastar.

"Pilipinas Got Talent Season 3" Premieres July 9, 2011

Just two short weeks after the grand finals, Pilipinas Got Talent is coming back for its third season tomorrow, July 9, 2011. It's the first back-to-back season for a Got Talent franchise which is conceived and owned by Simon Cowell's SYCO company.

Luis Manzano and Billy Crawford will reprise their hosting duties, as well as the judges Kris Aquino, Ai-Ai de las Alas, and Freddie Garcia.

Pilipinas Got Talent visited more than 40 provinces for this season. There are also online auditions where the hopefuls are asked to upload their videos in the show's website. Now, that's a tedious job of hunting for the country's most talented, no?

Who will follow the footsteps of season one's Jovit Baldivino and season two's Marcelito Pomoy and win P2 million?

"I Dare You" Begins the Dare on July 11

I Dare You, ABS-CBN's new reality show, will begin changing the lives of Kapamilya celebrities and ordinary Pinoys starting Monday, June 11, 2011. Your favorite celebrities' courage and determination will be put to test in order to win a reward for chosen Filipinos worthy to be called Bidang Kapamilya.

Bidang Kapamilya are ordinary Filipinos who bravely face life's adversities no matter what. They are the ones who work so hard for money like the garbage collectors, market vendors, and people with disabilities among others. The celebrity challengers will be asked to enter the world of the less fortunate Pinoys and help win a reward for them by beating other challegers.

Hosted by Jericho Rosales, Iya Villania, and Melai Cantiveros, make I Dare You a viewing habit from Monday to Friday right before Mula sa Puso beginning July 11.

Javier Colon Wins "The Voice"

Javier Colon was declared as the very first winner of the new reality singing competition, The Voice. Mentored by Maroon 5's Adam Levine, Javier went neck-to-neck with Blake Sheldon-mentored Dia Frampton at the finals. The Dominican-Puerto Rican won with just 2% more votes than Dia who emerged as the runner-up.

Aside from Javier and Dia, the other two finalists were Beverly McClellan (mentored by Christina Aguilera) and Vicci Martinez (mentored by Cee Lo Green).

Marcelito Pomoy Wins PGT Season 2

Marcelito Pomoy was declared champion of ABS-CBN's Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2 held June 26, 2011 at the Araneta Coliseum. He won P2 million in cash prize by getting 19.56% of votes, the highest among the 14 finalists.

Marcelito Pomoy wowed the audience with his performance last June 25th. He sang The Prayer, an Andrea Bocelli and Celin Dion original duet. He did both the male and female parts so well that you'd think it was a real woman singing the female parts.

First runner-up was the tap dancing Mata brothers collectively known as the Happy Feet. They got 18.22% of votes, just 1.34% short from Marcelito's.

Landing in the third spot was Freestylers, a dance act from Calamba, Laguna. They got 9.46% of the total votes, so far from what Happy Feet got.

It would be now safe to say that the battle was only between Marcelito Pomoy and Happy Feet. And since it's again a singer who won this season, we can also say that we Pinoys really love singing acts more than anything else.

"I Dare You: The Kapamilya Challenge" Soon on ABS-CBN

I Dare You: The Kapamilya Challenge is a new reality show from ABS-CBN that will challenge the ability and courage of celebrities to take on real life roles of an ordinary person. To be hosted by Jericho Rosales, Iya Villania, and Melai Cantiveros, the show reminds me of GMA News TV's Day-Off where the hosts take on blue collar jobs for a day.

I Dare You: The Kapamilya Challenge is the Philippine franchise of AXN's I Dare You: The Ultimate Challenge. News about this new show broke out on the latter part of 2010, and a teaser (featuring Kim Chiu) has been shown as early as December last year.

A newer teaser, though, shows more Kapamilya stars like Gab Valenciano, Vice Ganda, Jason Abalos, and Ryan Bang, among others. It even still shows Alessandra de Rossi who has just recently transferred to GMA-7.

14 Grand Finalists of Pilipinas Got Talent 2

Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2's Wildcard Round has just been concluded and two more were chosen to complete the 14 grand finalists.

From among the 6 wildcard contestants, Rico the Magician and Skeights got the highest number of text votes with 41.68% and 30.16% respectively. The wildcard competition was purely based on text votes alone.

Collins Gutierrez, Next Generation Band, and Kenny Padalla were eliminated early on. Joy's Diva joined Rico the Magician and Skeights in the top 3, but was eliminated nonetheless.
