Maja Salvador Plays the Role of an Athlete in "Thelma"

Maja Salvador stars in Thelma where she plays the role of a track and field athlete coming from a poor family. Distributed by Star Cinema, it is set to be shown nationwide on September 7, 2011.

Directed by Paul Soriano, Thelma is basically an inspirational movie about life, hope, and the will to never give up. Inspired by true stories, some parts of the movie were taken from the life of national athlete Elma Muros who personally trained Maja in preparation for the role. Aside from that, Elma also has a role in the movie.

Aside from Maja and Elma, others in the cast of Thelma are John Arcilla, Tetchie Agbayani, Eliza Pineda, and Sue Prado with the special participation of Jason Abalos and Elma Muros.

Director Paul Soriano co-wrote the screenplay with Froilan Medina. He is also one of the producers of Thelma with Rino Que, Samantha Chavez-Que, and the star of the movie Maja Salvador.

ABS-CBN Premieres 3 New Shows on July 11, 2011

ABS-CBN premieres three new shows today, July 11, 2011. Two of the shows go to the afternoon block, perhaps to make it much stronger. Happy Yipee Yehey, though, moves to a little earlier timeslot of 12:00 noon.

First off is the Cristine Reyes-starrer Reputasyon which comes right after Happy Yipee Yehey at 2:00 PM. Jason Abalos and Cristine's real-life boyfriend Rayver Cruz are her leading men in this afternoon series. Supporting cast include Jaclyn Jose, Aiko Melendez, Lito Pimentel, and Laurice Guillen.

Second is the much-awaited reality show I Dare You will also premiere today at 5:15 PM. Produced by ABS-CBN Entertainment and ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs, the show will put your favorite Kapamilya stars in challenges that will put them in situations they don't normally do in real life. I Dare You is hosted by Jericho Rosales, Iya Villania, and the funny Melai Cantiveros.

Third is the newest Koreanovela to hit the primetime – Pure Love. It is the story of a rich professional whose life was claimed by a tragic accident. She was given a second chance, though, to visit the persons that she believed loved and valued her. 100 Days much? Pure Love comes right after The Biggest Loser: Pinoy Edition from Monday-Friday.

Cristine Reyes Stars in "Reputasyon"

ABS-CBN has again tapped the acting skills of the sexy Cristine Reyes for an upcoming teleserye that will pair her with her real life boyfriend, Rayver Cruz. Titled Reputasyon, the series will begin airing July 11, 2011.

Cristine plays the role of Agnes Delos Santos, an aspiring teacher who comes from a poor but respectable family. She was eventually raped by the town mayor who suffered a heart attack while in the process of doing so. The heart attack killed him and the town blamed it on Agnes who was accused of being the mayor's other woman.

Also in the cast is the talented Jason Abalos who will play Agnes' boyfriend. Rayver is the rich man who will fall in love with Agnes as the story progresses.

Supporting cast include Laurice Guillen, Jaclyn Jose, Lito Pimentel, and Aiko Melendez who will play the role of the mayor's wife.

"I Dare You: The Kapamilya Challenge" Soon on ABS-CBN

I Dare You: The Kapamilya Challenge is a new reality show from ABS-CBN that will challenge the ability and courage of celebrities to take on real life roles of an ordinary person. To be hosted by Jericho Rosales, Iya Villania, and Melai Cantiveros, the show reminds me of GMA News TV's Day-Off where the hosts take on blue collar jobs for a day.

I Dare You: The Kapamilya Challenge is the Philippine franchise of AXN's I Dare You: The Ultimate Challenge. News about this new show broke out on the latter part of 2010, and a teaser (featuring Kim Chiu) has been shown as early as December last year.

A newer teaser, though, shows more Kapamilya stars like Gab Valenciano, Vice Ganda, Jason Abalos, and Ryan Bang, among others. It even still shows Alessandra de Rossi who has just recently transferred to GMA-7.
