Kim Chiu, ABS-CBN's Princess of Primetime, will once again prove that she deserves the title via the upcoming drama, My Binondo Girl. Set to premiere this August, Kim will play a dual role in the series – the beautiful Belinda Young and the handsome Marcus Jung.

Xian Lim, Matteo Guidicelli, and Jolo Revilla will be Kim's leading men. I wonder who she will end up with in the story, and who among the three the fans of Kim Chiu would support.

In supporting cast are Laureen Uy, Glydel Mercado, Ai-Ai de las Alas, and Cherry Pie Picache.

"I Dare You: The Kapamilya Challenge" Soon on ABS-CBN

I Dare You: The Kapamilya Challenge is a new reality show from ABS-CBN that will challenge the ability and courage of celebrities to take on real life roles of an ordinary person. To be hosted by Jericho Rosales, Iya Villania, and Melai Cantiveros, the show reminds me of GMA News TV's Day-Off where the hosts take on blue collar jobs for a day.

i dare you

I Dare You: The Kapamilya Challenge is the Philippine franchise of AXN's I Dare You: The Ultimate Challenge. News about this new show broke out on the latter part of 2010, and a teaser (featuring Kim Chiu) has been shown as early as December last year.

A newer teaser, though, shows more Kapamilya stars like Gab Valenciano, Vice Ganda, Jason Abalos, and Ryan Bang, among others. It even still shows Alessandra de Rossi who has just recently transferred to GMA-7.

ABS-CBN Acquires Rights to 13 Mars Ravelo Titles

ABS-CBN has recently acquired exclusive rights to 13 Mars Ravelo titles, according to a tweet by Eric John Salut, AdProm Head of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation and Editorial Consultant of ABS-CBN Interactive.

ericjohnsalut tweet

Mars Ravelo was a graphic novelist whose works were so popular during the komiks days. Most popular of his characters are Darna, Captain Barbell, and Dyesebel, stories of which are adapted into movies and television series numerous times. These three titles had been popularly linked to GMA-7. Darna had been adapted into a tv series twice by the Kapuso network – the first one with Angel Locsin, and the second one with Marian Rivera. Marian also starred in the network's adaptation of Dyesebel.

Also, GMA-7 is currently showing its second tv adaptation of Captain Barbell with Richard Gutierrez in the title role. The first adaptation was in 2006 with Richard also doing the title role.

Eric John Salut named a few titles in his tweet – Darna, Dyesebel, and Jack En Jill. It's interesting to note that Angel Locsin, who starred in the first Darna tv series of GMA-7, is now in ABS-CBN. Would the Kapamilya network give Angel the role in their own tv adaptation?

Internet forums are now abuzz with talks about who would play what,  and Anne Curtis was among those favored to play Dyesebel. And honestly, I personally see the Showtime host so fit for that role.

Among Mars Ravelo's titles, seventeen can be considered as the more popular ones. They are Darna, Dyesebel, Captain Barbell, Lastikman, Bondying, Varga, Wanted: Perfect Mother, Hiwaga, Maruja, Mariposa, Roberta, Rita, Buhay Pilipino, Jack En Jill, Flash Bomba, Tiny Tony, and Dragonna.

With thirteen titles now belonging to ABS-CBN, and Captain Barbell's rights still with GMA-7, I wonder what the other three titles are that the Kapamilya network wasn't able to get.

And would they end up giving the role of Darna to Angel Locsin? I can also see Cristine Reyes as a Darna material, and even Kim Chiu given she gained a little more pounds.

Regine Velasquez Sings "Binondo Girl" Theme Song

Regine Velasquez was chosen to sing the theme song of the upcoming ABS-CBN teleserye, Binondo Girl, which will star Kim Chiu. The series also marks Chiu's comeback on primetime television after quite some time.

The song title, though, hasn't been disclosed yet.

And to those asking if Regine is already switching network, the answer is no. The Asias' Songbird is still very much a Kapuso.

Binondo Girl also stars Xian Lim, Jolo Revilla, and Matteo Guidicelli. Supporting cast includes Cherry Pie Picache and Ai-Ai de las Alas.
