Charice, as recently reported, was asked to sing the US National Anthem on the National Football League's 9/11 tribute game on September 11.

Despite the fact that Charice was not born in the US, her being chosen to sing the patriotic song during an important day for the Americans just shows how the 9/11 bombings affected not only America but the whole world as well.

Gerald Anderson Soon to Hit Primetime TV as "Budoy"

Gerald Anderson will soon be back on primetime television via ABS-CBN's upcoming powerhouse drama titled Budoy.

In the tradition of bringing the best television drama, ABS-CBN brings together a cast of some of the best actors in Philippine showbiz in the newest teleserye that will bring a smile to your heart.

Aside from Gerald Anderson, Budoy also stars Zsa Zsa Padilla, Tirso Cruz III, Mylene Dizon, Jessy Mendiola, Enrique Gil, Dante Rivero, Barbara Perez, Gloria Sevilla and Janice de Belen.

Charice Previews "Lighthouse"

Charice gave a little preview of the song Lighthouse during the Acuvue 1 Day Celebrity Chat. The song is included in her sophomore international album titled Infinity.

Lighthouse is a ballad written by British singer-songwriter and Grammy nominee Natasha Bedingfield.

Did you watch the Miss Universe 2011 Prelims' livestream earlier?

I was so happy to hear the crowd cheering for Shamcey Supsup everytime she comes out. Not as loud as the cheers for Brazil or Indonesia, though, but at least the audience weren't mute everytime Philippines was called.

Miss World Philippines 2011 TV Spots [Videos]

Miss World Philippines 2011's pageant night is fast approaching. It will be held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) on September 18, 2011, Sunday, with a live telecast at 10 PM on GMA-7.

Miss World Philippines 2011 has partnered with SM Development Corporation (SMDC) and Henry Sy as main presenters of the event. SMDC will be giving away a luxurious seaside condominium unit at Sea Residences for the winner. The contestant who will be crowned Miss World Philippines 2011 will also receive P1 million cash prize from the organizer, Cory Quirino Global Quest (CQGQ) Inc.

Smart Communications is also sponsoring the event as co-presenter. The company will be giving away 20 computer units to the underprivileged school of the candidate bearing the "most extraordinary" story.

"Ang Utol Kong Hoodlum" - Trailer

TV5 is finally airing Ang Utol Kong Hoodlum which stars the network's Prince and Princess of Primetime, JC De Vera and Jasmine Curtis-Smith. The action-drama TV series will premiere on September 12, 2011.

Supposed to be released the second quarter of 2011, the series was purposely delayed in respect of ABS-CBN's Guns and Roses where one of the leads is Robin Padilla. Robin starred in the movie Ang Utol Kong Hoodlum, where the TV series was adapted.

Anne Curtis Sings "Sukob Na" - ABS-CBN's Station ID Theme

Anne Curtis is the voice behind Sukob Na, ABS-CBN's Station ID for the rainy season. We all know, of course, that the beautiful and funny Showtime host will be launching her debut album soon.

Sukob Na was composed by Frasco Mortiz and Alexeeb Flores. It was originally performed by the group 17:28 and had been used by ABS-CBN as their rainy season's station ID theme song twice – in 2002 (using the original version) and in 2010 (performed by Aiza Seguerra).

The questions were:

3. If you were an animal, what would you be and why?

The Opera Belles' "Sundo" [Music Video]

The Opera Belles' stint as "hurados" in ABS-CBN's daily talent show Showtime gave them a chance to make themselves more known all throughout the country. Their "samples" were much applauded and gained them more fans. It wasn't enough, though, to make them beat Markki Stroem, Jong Hilario and my personal favorite Ryan Bang from the text poll on who will stay in the judges' panel.

I've featured The Opera Belles in this blog before, but their stint made me more interested in their music. Searching YouTube, I came across this recently-released music video of their revival song titled Sundo which is an Imago-original.

The song was okay, their voices sound heavenly. But what about the music video? I almost laughed when I browsed the comments section and read someone's comment saying that the video looks like a whitening lotion/soap television commercial.

With all the hands-caressing-the-face moments, does it look like a TV commercial to you?

Watch "The Kitchen Musical" – Boom Boom Pow [Video]

Check out the Boom Boom Pow video clip from the pilot episode of The Kitchen Musical, a music-dance-drama series produced in Singapore by The Group Entertainment.

The series stars Filipina singer-actress Karylle as Maddie Avilon as the rich girl fresh from culinary school working as a chef in his dad's restaurant called "The Avilon." The story will revolve around her as she faces the trials of being a young chef and learns that she cannot always get her way just by being the daughter of the restaurant's owner.

The Kitchen Musical also stars Christian Bautista and a lot of other Pinoy talents like Thou Reyes, Ikey Canoy, and Rachel Alejandro.

The series will run for 13 weekly episodes of 1 hour each. It will premiere on October 15, 2011 in Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and 12 other countries. It will air on AXN Asia, MetroTV Indonesia, nTV7 Malaysia, and the country's Studio 23.

Manny Pacquiao Gets Impersonated on a Fox Show

Recently, the newest impersonator of the boxing champ and Sarangani Representative Manny Pacquiao has been spotted and it was no less than the American comedian Affion Crockett.

Affion's impersonation of Manny Pacquiao was aired on the pilot episode of the comedian's new show on Fox titled In The Flow With Affion Crockett. The series is executive-produced by Jamie Foxx.

In the impersonation, Pacman was an American Idol judge together with coach Freddie Roach. Pacman commented on the contestant's performance and talked about his political and singing career, as well as Floyd Mayweather.

The controversial part of the video was the "vitamins" part which could easily be connected by the boxing fans to the "steroids" that Pacman was being accused of using by Mayweather.

Korn Live in Manila [Videos]

Korn, the American alternative metal band, performed for their Filipino fans last night, August 10, at the Araneta Coliseum. Korn is composed of Jonathan Davis, James "Munky" Shaffer, Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu, and Ray Luzier. The band was formed in 1993.

Local band Slapshock did the front act in front of 80,000 people. Watch the video clip below.

Maroon 5 feat Christina Aguilera's "Moves Like Jagger" – Music Video and Lyrics

The Maroon 5 song titled Moves Like Jagger featuring the pop diva Christina Aguilera now has a music video. Directed by Jonas Åkerlund, the music video was filmed in Los Angeles. It premiered August 8 on E!

The song was released for digital download on June 21, 2011. On the same day, it had a live premiere on NBC's reality show The Voice where Maroon 5's Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera were mentors.

Alden Richards Replaces Aljur Abrenica in "Panday 2"

Aljur Abrenica had been pulled out of the cast of Panday 2 (Ang Panday: Ikalawang Aklat) due to some pre-scheduled commitments abroad that get in conflict with his shooting schedules. It's just sad that the scenes Aljur had finished shooting will go to waste.

The good news is that a fresher face will replace Aljur for the role. Alden Richards, who we all loved in GMA-7's Alakdana earlier this year, took the role Aljur had left. As the saying goes, "One's loss is another's gain."

The 18-year-old hottie who just entered showbiz this January is so lucky to have been given the right kind of exposures as of late. He's also included in the upcoming youth-oriented Tween Academy Class of 2012 which is showing on August 24th.

Arjohn Gilbert – The Kid Singing in Puregold Clark

Yesterday, I posted about the talented kid singing in Puregold Clark, Pampanga (click here for related article). I eventually learned that he's an Aeta from Mabalacat, Pampanga and that his name is Arjohn Gilbert.

He had been seen on YouTube when he was younger, and he was so amazing that GMA-7 decided to feature him on two of the network's shows Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho and Wish Ko Lang back in 2009.

Arjohn has also received awards from his school for his exceptional singing, a talent he hones at home in the presence of his family and neighbors. He sells bamboo flutes, an Aeta musical instrument that he also plays well.
